"What I meant was that you're rather down to earth. Unlike most girls I've met." Torin grinned sheepishly after he'd said this, reaching for his bottle of orange juice before swallowing the majority of the liquid.
He put the bottle down and then looked at Natasha again, "I didn't embarrass you...did I?"

"No!" Natasha said quickly, looking up from her lap, and letting her eyes meet with Torin's. "I just.. well, nobody has ever really said anything like that to me before, that's all. I'm not used to hearing it," she explained softly, knowing she was blushing again. She reached over and picked up her soda, drinking from the can, any excuse to stop babbling before she embarrassed herself any further, or said something she'd regret.

"Oh." Torin nodded a little and took a bite from the second half of his sandwich. "I do mean it though. And this isn't just the counselor side of me talking either... I think you're really great." He could feel his cheeks heating up although he wasn't sure why. He was just being honest.

Natasha had finished both portions of her sandwich, and she continued nursing the can of soda, as she reached into the brown paper bag, and pulled out the protein bar she had mentioned earlier. She couldn't help it, the way a smile was tugging at the corners of her lips, as she looked up from her lunch, and over toward Torin.
"I think you're really great, too. Like, really, really great."

Torin finished off the rest of his sandwich, balled up the plastic wrap and threw it into his lunch bag before looking at Natasha again. "Good good, that's great." He smiled wide and then took another sip from his bottle of orange juice. He tried to keep the awkward almost stuttering tone out of his voice when he spoke, but it was growing harder by the moment. "I usually have a hard time talking to girls but you... you're just... e-easy to talk to."

"I'm glad to hear that," She replied slowly, finishing up the last few sips of her soda, before placing the empty can down onto the desk corner again. She unwrapped the bar, staring intently at it, as she spoke. "It's the same for me, really. I don't really talk to guys a lot, I've always had female shrinks even, because I just find it awkward. But I really like talking to you. I thought I'd hate it, when I heard that I'd have to come to appointments every second day, but.. well, obviously, I don't. Since I'm here, of my own free will. And quite enjoying my stay."

Torin swallowed the rest of his orange juice and put the bottle back in his lunch bag before he spoke again. "I'm glad I haven't made things too awkward for you. I figured that having your counselor be so young would be weird, but well... since you're here of your own accord it must not be that awkward at all, right?" He was definitely enjoying having Natasha around but he wasn't sure if he wanted to voice that aloud or not. Especially since she was just supposed to be another of his students, not someone he could to get to know outside a strict counselor-counseled setting.

"You haven't made me feel awkward at all, I swear," Natasha assured him, taking a bite of her bar, and nodding quickly. "I wouldn't keep coming back here for lunch if you made me feel awkward. Exactly the opposite, really, you make me feel really comfortable," she explained quietly, taking another bite.
She jumped a bit as she felt the pocket of her jacket beginning to vibrate, and she reached in with her free hand to grab her cell phone. She flipped it open, reading a text from Sera [and apparently Leigh] asking where she was, before quickly messaging them back, and snapping the phone closed again, and tucking it away once more. "And see, if you were a normal teacher, you'd be yelling at me for having my cell phone on school premises. That's what makes you cool. Well, one of the things."

"You make me feel beyond comfortable, Natasha. It's almost like I'm sharing lunch with a gi-- friend." Torin was glad he'd stopped himself before he'd let the word 'girlfriend' leave his mouth. He was not supposed to think of Natasha like that. Not that he did think about her like that or anything.
"I wouldn't yell at you for having your cellphone on during school hours. If only because I always have mine on." He gestured to the green phone that sat on his desk near a stack of files. "And I'm most definitely not cool. I don't know where you would have gotten that idea..."

Natasha had looked up quickly when he had cut himself off, telling herself that she hadn't almost heard what she thought she had. She felt her cheeks flushing anyway, as she gave him a shaky sort of grin. "Y-Yeah, like an old friend, you know? I think I know what you mean. That's how it feels for me anyway. And shut up, you're totally cool. Or at least, I think you are."
She glanced at his phone when he motioned to it, and was silent for a moment. "Do you want my number?"
It was out before she could stop herself, and she knew she was blushing harder, stuffing the last of her bar into her mouth in order to keep her mouth from sprouting any more embarrassing non-sense. She was slowly running out of food to accomplish that goal, however.

"Yeah, an old friend. That describes it perfectly." Torin smiled at her before shaking his head. "No, I'm definitely not cool. You're imagining things."
He stared wide-eyed at Natasha when she'd asked if he wanted her number. He probably shouldn't be taking the number of one of his students, but Natasha wasn't just any student. So by those means, taking her number wouldn't be anything too bad.
"Sure," He said before picking up his phone and handing it to the blonde girl. "And while you're at it, give me your phone so I can give you my number."

"Fantastic," Natasha replied, a little more breathlessly than she had intended. She accepted his phone, and quickly grabbed her own, sliding it across the desk toward him. Opening his contacts, she quickly input her information, and waited just a moment before she handed it back his way. "There, now you know a little more about me. Well, I put in my birthday, and set my own ring tone. So you know a song I like out of your play list, and you probably already knew my birthday from my file, but if your phone is anything like mine, now it'll remind you."
She was rambling again, but found she didn't mind, just grinning a bit like a fool as she shifted in her seat, legs crossing in the opposite direction now.

Torin picked up Natasha's phone and flipped it open. He opened up her contacts and inputted his number/birthday/etc before handing the phone back to her. "I've put my birthday in there for you as well. As for a ring tone, feel free to pick one on your own, alright?"
He smiled and took his own phone back, setting it aside after glancing at the new entry in his contacts. Her birthday was in May, was it? Well, he'd have to keep that in mind for next year.

"How do you feel about 'Kool Thing' or 'Superstar'? I think I only have Sonic Youth on there right now, and those two immediately come to mind," Natasha suggested, with a little hint of a smile, as she flipped the phone back open and examined her new contact as well. She made no mention of the fact that, personally, she would have chosen 'Superstar' without a doubt, if she hadn't bothered to ask him for his opinion first.
Maybe she'd get lucky, and he wouldn't realize she'd just offered him the choice between a song made famous by Guitar Hero, and a tragic love song.

"Well, I'm a fan of both songs but I'd definitely have to say that 'Superstar' is my favourite." Torin smiled a little now as he thought about the meaning behind 'Superstar'. It was a rather sad song but he'd always had a soft spot in his heart for the sadder songs. "But you can pick 'Kool Thing' if you'd prefer. It's up to you."
