Rath smiled a little when she touched his hand, swallowing hard, and giving a little nod of his head. "Yeah, both of my sisters are light years ahead of me. Tatum and Ophelia have been together for years, and Leigh and Sera might as well have been, really. Not that I'm complaining, as long as they're both happy, of course. It's just weird to think about sometimes," he murmured, his eyes trailing over to his twin as he spoke. She had been looking at him, and quickly looked away to Ophi again, when she realized she had been caught. It made him smile again, raising his hand in a little wave.
"I wouldn't know it was a shitty budget, if you didn't tell me, seriously," he soon said, turning back to Meghan again. "But I guess I've been going on about your costume all night, going in circles. It's just that awesome. It's a nice change from the typical skank look that girls go for on Halloween, too. I mean, even Sera fell into it, and she hates Halloween."

"I probably shouldn't ask since it's really none of my business, but have you dated anyone before?" Meghan asked sheepishly, completely comfortable with asking an almost-stranger about his past relationships. Well, he wasn't a complete stranger after all...what with being the older brother of one of her friends.
"I'm really glad you think it's awesome," She felt her face flush a little as she said this, grinning just a bit. "I couldn't pull off that skank look if I tried. I'd just feel uncomfortable and wouldn't be able to have fun...ya know?"

Rath was a bit taken back by the question, but he simply smiled, shrugging slowly. "Uh, no really, no. Not like, steady or anything. I've had a couple of dates, mostly ones my sisters set up, and I had a couple of like.. online girlfriends, in games and stuff, but nothing serious," he explained. He almost punched himself in the face for admitting that his best experience with girls had been online, but the admission had been out before he could get his words under control.
"I'm glad you didn't go for the skank look. This looks a lot better on you."

"Sorry if it was a sudden question, I was just curious..." Meghan found herself flushing a little, trying to hide behind her bangs. "The only guy I dated seriously was a total asshole, so I'm no better off than you are."
"...T-thanks." She raised her hands to her cheeks and felt them. Yes, they were most definitely warm. Why were Rath's words affecting her so much?

"No, don't worry about it," he said quickly, lifting up his hands in a defensive gesture. "I probably would have asked you sooner or later anyway, you just beat me to it. I was kind of wondering why a girl like you was here without a boyfriend, talking to a nerd like me. But that kind of answers my question. I'd rather you be stuck with a nerd like me, rather than an asshole."
He trailed off for a moment, knowing he was probably just as flushed as Meghan looked. "You're welcome," he managed lamely, before pushing off from his position on the wall. "I'm going to get a drink, you want anything?"

"A girl like me?" Meghan was more than slightly confused about what Rath could mean by that. She was nowhere near as attractive as some of the other girls at their school and so she didn't understand what he was talking about. "I'd rather be here with you, that's for sure."
She flushed a little darker now and glanced around the room a few times before looking back up at Rath. "Yeah, yeah... a drink sounds good. I'll tag along." She then got up from the chair and smoothed out her skirt, making sure that it wasn't stuck up in the back.

It seemed, frankly, that Rath was equally confused by her confusion. "Uh, you know, a pretty girl? Seriously, almost every pretty girl in Parkdale has a boyfriend," he explained, blinking a bit. "Oh, or a girlfriend," he quickly added, with an off handed motion in the direction of his sisters. "Lots of them have those, too. But either way, if you'd rather be hanging with the nerd, the nerd you shall have."
And with that, he offered out his arm to her as she stood up from her chair and straightened out her skirt, smiling widely at her. "I'm thinking rum and coke, personally. How about you?"

"Pretty? Um... if you say so." Meghan shrugged and glanced around the room once more, taking note of how everyone else was grouped separately. "I'd rather your presence over some of the jerks at our school. The majority of the sophomore boys are complete horn dogs."
Blushing darkly, she linked her arm with Rath's and smiled up at him. "I don't really drink much. Is there anything you'd recommend?"

"Don't tell me that, man. Seraphim is in that grade with you, and Leigh too. If I have to go start beating up jerk-off guys for you three, then I might end up with my jaw busted or something. I'm only good at fighting games, and that Dragon Punch thing at the arcade," Rath groaned, though he was still smiling as he spoke.
He lead the way toward one of the refreshment tables, tugging her gently along with him, and stepping up to the side. It was getting gradually more crowded in the studio, and there were already a few drunk chicks hanging around the table. He assumed they had already been half clocked when they arrived, and it made him wonder where Sarah and Hunter were. "Recommend? Well, I like rum and coke, as I said. But it's not for everybody. If you're like Sera, you'd probably like wine, or a wine cooler. If you're like Tatum, well.. beer, or Kahlua. What do you prefer? Sweet, creamy, savory? Sour? We have Sour Puss, I think, the green apple variety. I picked it up when I was on grocery run."

"Well, they wouldn't go anywhere near Leigh or Seraphim because they've made it pretty clear that they're together and stuff." Meghan shrugged a little and smiled up at Rath once again. "And I can pretty much take care of myself, so you don't have to worry about sticking up for me, alright?"
"...That green apple thing sounds kind of good. I'll have one of those, I guess." She kept her arm linked with Rath as they stood near the refreshment table, shifting on her feet a little and trying to not gag on the smell coming off the drunk girls.

"It hasn't stopped people in the past. Some guys just really don't know when to take a hint, you know?" Rath replied, shrugging a little himself. "And I like a girl who can take care of herself, although I haven't got a thing against Damsels-in-Distress. You know, Zelda, Peach, those kind of gals. I don't mind playing the hero, but a strong sort of girl is nice, too," he mused, realizing how dorky he sounded, and quickly dropping the subject.
"Okay, one glass of Sour Puss coming up. It's sort of sweet, but I think you'll like it," he said, freeing his arm from her for the moment, to pour them drinks. He grabbed two glasses, put in a little of the ice he had bought, and then poured from the bottom of green apple liquor for her, and a bottle of coke, and then a bottle of rum, for himself. Offering her cup up to her, he smiled a bit. "Now let's get the hell out of here, before one of these broads tosses her cookies on our shoes."

"Yeah...I know," Meghan shifted from foot to foot and tried to avoid Rath's gaze. "Zelda is pretty bitching though. Especially when she's Sheik, ya know?" She laughed a little at this, hiding her snickers behind her hand.
She took her drink from Rath as soon as he offered it and smiled a little, "That sounds like the best idea. I rather like these shoes, thanks much."

"And lest we forget Smash Bros. In the proper hands, the Damsels-in-Distress can actually be pretty good characters. Sera can actually kick my ass everytime in Brawl when she's playing as Zelda," Rath admitted, laughing a little as well. He linked his arm back with Meghan's again, and led her away from the table, back toward where she had been sitting earlier.
"It'd ruin your whole outfit if you got puke on your shoes, seriously."

"Okay, well... the Damsels-In-Distress can kick some pretty serious ass in Smash Bros., but of course it really depends on how good the player is that's behind the character, ya know? My brother would make even the best characters look like shit 'cause he can't play videogames to save his life."
Meghan smiled and sat back down on the chair, looking up at Rath before taking a sip of the drink he'd gotten for her. He was right about it being sweet, but it definitely wasn't that bad so she could see herself enjoying it.
"I could always claim I was Judy after a long night of partying with the other Heroes but I don't know how well that would fly. Plus, ya know, my shoes would smell like puke."

"Both of my sisters are decent at gaming, possibly because of my influence. Although they like totally different types of games, and I.. like pretty much everything," he explained, smiling a bit. "I guess we won't be inviting your brother to any Smash Bros. tournaments in the near to distant future?"
He lifted his own cup to his mouth, and took a drink, before lowering it again and holding it at chest level. There were a few people dancing, although the music hadn't even started yet, and he assumed they had probably showed up with the drunk girls at the refreshment table. When the music did start, maybe then he'd ask her to dance. If he didn't chicken out.
"You could say that, but puke shoes just isn't cool, man. I say we avoid it at all costs, and just try to stick with vomit free Judy."
