"You didn't pay any attention when we studied them, obviously. Then again, when we studied them, I did so all of that extra credit, and read all of the books that the library had about them.. I actually think some of the Egyptian gods, or even the Irish gods, were more interesting than the Greeks, or the Romans, for that matter," Seraphim explained, quite seriously, and with a rather solemn expression. At the mention of the Greek Pantheon being whores, and Zeus' womanizing ways, she had to break into a bit of a grin.
"You're right, really. If you pay enough attention, or even just a little, it was basically just a giant Greek orgy, in my opinion. Everyone slept with everyone. Especially Zeus, I think he was the worst, since he was in charge. Though I can't say I wouldn't abuse my power, given the chance," she added.
"Enough history lesson though. I'll definitely protect you, no problems, your mother is right to trust me. And actually, wasn't one of the Supergirls gay? Or was that a Batgirl? I forget now, but I know DC had lesbians. At one point or another. You could have gone as Julie Power, you know? From the Power Pack? She's a lesbian now. Or Karolina Dean, from Runaways? They're both blonde. Next year, let's both be gay superheroes."
Natasha considered heading over to talk to Seraphim and Leigh, but they seemed pretty involved in their conversation, which was only taking place between kisses. In fact, even the rest of the Wainwrights seemed pretty absorbed in their conversations, except for Johnny. Who was seated next to a girl dressed as Harley Quinn. Shrugging slightly, the blonde decided that was as good of a start as any.
Taking her soda with her, she moved over to the couch, and sat down onto it, on the other side of Harley. "Hey guys, you look totally enthralled."

"Oh... That's actually pretty cool." Meghan nodded, smiling a little. "You can call me Meghan. But never shorten it to Meg, or I might have to hit you. Yeah, Guitar Hero and Rock Band are my favourites. I'm a total sucker for Amplitude and DDR too. I haven't had a chance to play World Tour yet but I heard it was amazing!"
"You seem pretty cool to me. But then again, it's not like I really know what 'cool' is..." She trailed off and glanced around the room, spotting Seraphim off to the side with Leigh and waving a little before turning back to face Rath. "I've got some rhythm, but most of it comes from playing DDR."

"That sounds like an awesome plan," Leigh answered, nodding. "Sexy lesbian superheroes! But I'm pretty sure it was Batgirl who was gay. Not Barbara...one of the other ones... Although Michael and I totally found an in-canon reference to pink kryptonite turning Superman gay. Maybe it's Supergirl and someone just keeps pink kryptonite around.
"But if we're doing that, I wanna be Karolina Dean. I wanna be an alien! But don't both of them have glowing rainbow-y light? Not the most subtle of folk, the Marvel people, are they?"
"Hey," Harley noted, looking over. "It's, uh, Johnny's brother. I think he might be prettier than me. It's upsetting," she added, not believing a word of it (although Jude was quite pretty at the moment, to be fair), and held out a hand. "I'm Harleen. Harley for short. New around here, and stranger to pretty much everybody, except Johnny...and even then. I think he's the only person whose name I know, which is why I'm cowering over here, but I met the theatre group here. You are?"

"Okay, cool beans. No Meg, just Meghan, I can live with that," Rath agreed, smiling over at her. "And I can't believe someone else actually knows what Amplitude is. Talk about an under appreciated game, right? It was one of the first rhythm games, and still nobody gives it the props that it needs to receive. I remember playing that thing when the PS2 was still new, back in the day," he explained, quite excitedly. It was rare that he got to talk games with anyone, outside of his sisters and online friends. "And World Tour is amazing, trust me. You should come over and play it sometime," he added casually.
It was out before he could think about what he'd said, and he fought to keep from blushing any harder. Had he really just invited a girl he barely knew to come over and play Guitar Hero? Yeah, he did. What was getting into him?
"Hey, seriously, I think everyone defines what 'cool' is on their own. And if you think I'm cool, then I'm cool with that. Now, I think we should stop saying cool, because it's getting weird," Rath said, grinning a bit. He saw her waving at Sera and Leigh, and did the same, before returning to the conversation. "I think all good video game nerds get their rhythm from DDR. We can go out there and really show them on the dance floor, y'know? They might be able to tango, but we know how to do half-steps."
Seraphim saw the wave, and returned it, just vaguely wondering why Meghan was talking to her brother, of all people. She made a mental note to go over and say 'hello', once she and Leigh had finished talking. Leigh would, after all, want to show off her wonderful costume, and one of their friends would be a good choice in that aspect. "They do both have rainbow-y light, yeah. In fact, Karolina is more or less entirely rainbow, when she isn't wearing her bracelet. I always thought that Marvel failed at subtlety, for that? And actually, I remember being kind of surprised when she came out, but if you go back and look at the earlier issues, like the original fifteen or however many it was, that first arc? You can pretty much tell she's hard gay for Nico right from the second comic," Sera explained, before pausing a moment.
"I think maybe if I went back and looked over the last couple of years, I'd probably have noticed how hard gay you were, too. It's a shame that we're not a comic book, really, it is. Super Sera and Henchlady."
Natasha followed their gaze finally, and saw Jude standing there in his Robin Hood costume. She was just in time to see Samson, currently decked out in Hannibal gear, flicking up the back of the other boy's skirt. She couldn't contain a little snort of laughter, as she reached over and took Harley's hand, shaking it gently. "Yeah, Jude is.. well, yeah, he's Jude. I'm somehow not surprised by this at all," she admitted. "Anyway, it's nice to meet you, Harley. I'm Natasha, but you can call me Tasha, but you're feeling lazy. Leigh does, mostly. And you have no need to cower, pretty much everybody in this crowd is really nice. They're not going to bite, I promise. Well, they might, but they don't mean any malice by it."
Deciding she probably wasn't sounding the most encouraging, Natasha glanced over toward where the door was. "Speaking of the theatre crowd, I wonder if Lucy and Brody are coming.."

"No one else I've ever talked to about music games knows what Amplitude is. And I'm all 'Oh god you're so missing out!' but they're just like '...Whatever'. It sucks. I've been playing it since the PS2 came out too. And not the crappy thin version of the PS2, the clunky paperweight thing." Meghan smiled at Rath now, laughing just slightly.
"It's cool, we can stop saying it. ...Oh god, now I can't stop saying it." She laughed a little louder now, throwing one hand over her face in embarrassment. "We'll have to play DDR together sometime, yeah? Show off our 'mad skills'."

"Oh, yeah, for sure. Seraphim had a thin, but I've been using my old school one since the day it came out. Sometimes, the disc tray gets a little sticky, but it's nothing that I can't fix with a butter knife, you know? Pops right open. Plus, if I really wanted to, I could take it into work and have it looked at, but I just think it's cheaper this way," Rath explained, laughing a little as well. "Okay, no more cool, we're done with the cool."
At the suggestion of DDR, he nodded quickly. "Definitely, man. We can go to the arcade together sometime, our mall is one of the only places that still has a real machine, instead of replacing it with that stupid Korean rip off. In the Groove, or whatever they're calling it."

"I'm pretty sure I've still got mine somewhere back at my father's house. But that's like... three hours away from here so I never get to play the old games anymore. In fact, I haven't played a video game besides ones on my DS in like... months. I'm going into withdrawal, for sure." Meghan laughed a little more now, suddenly feeling very comfortable around Rath. It wasn't like her to get so comfortable around a person this quickly so it probably had something to do with how friendly Rath was being.
"The arcade in my old town didn't even have In the Groove it sucked that much. We should definitely go after school some day this week and just play until they kick us out."

"Three hours? That isn't so far," Rath said matter-of-factly, as he glanced over toward his sister and her girlfriend. "We'll have a road trip or something, man, totally. You, me, and them, and we'll go pick up your video games. Sera loves road trips, actually, and camping. Which you probably know already. But still, withdrawal must be killed before it can dig in it's ugly claws too deeply," he suggested, with a little smile. He felt rather comfortable himself, also somewhat unusual. At parties, he usually stuck around Tatum and Ophelia, or even Seraphim and Leigh, if all else failed. Being social with girls he hardly knew was not a typical event.
"Our arcade is pretty good. And I work at the mall, so I go there on all of my breaks, they know me pretty well. But we'll go check it out, play until either they kick us out, or we can't stand up anymore. What's your favorite song?"

"A road trip would be awesome! I would have brought my games with me when I moved here with my brother but we couldn't take a whole lot of stuff with us so it was either my DS or my PS2 and the DS was smaller so it sort of won out." Meghan smiled back at him, before sticking her tongue out of the corner of her mouth just slightly. She then sat down on the closest chair that wasn't already occupied and curled her feet up under her rear.
"I work at the mall too. At one of the many clothing stores out there. I don't even remember what's it called. Abercrombie and Bitch or something..."

When she sat down onto the closest chair, he moved with her, standing beside the chair and leaning back onto the wall, crossing his arms loosely over his chest as he spoke. "I'm always down for a road trip, we never do anything exciting around here, except for parties. And mostly I just try to keep Tatum from getting drunk, and keep Sera from getting into a bitch fight. Well, Leigh keeps her under control, mostly. Parties aren't the greatest of excitement, I'd almost rather be home playing a game, but what can you do? The sisters, they wanted me to come, and I give in easily."
"Really? I've never seen you around before. But then again, I mostly only go to the arcade, and a few of the electronics store. I actually work in a computer repair store, we're on the second floor, pretty close to the food court. We're not that busy, so I get a lot of time to play my DS, or PSP, or do whatever."

Meghan smiled up at Rath as he spoke, giggling a little. "I'd rather be home playing videogames too, but Seraphim invited me and I didn't want to turn down the invitation. And if I hadn't come I never would have met you and you're probably the most interesting person here."
"Well, the clothing stores are on a different floor then the arcade and food court so that's probably why you haven't seen me around much. Oh, and I'm not really a redhead so that might also have something to do with it."

Rath smiled a bit, feeling his cheeks flush again at the compliment, before he quickly cleared his throat, and glanced over toward Sera again. "I hate to be the one to rain on parades, but you might be stuck with me for the night. I mean, unless you had something else to do, like.. I mean, I dunno, you could go see whoever. I'm just going to be frank, and say that you're probably not going to get much of Seraphim's attention tonight. She'll talk to Leigh, she'll drink, they'll dance, and then they'll wander off, and probably leave early," he explained, pausing a bit. "Before they started dating, they just left early, and she'd puke up all of her wine on the walk home, and then they'd go to sleep. Now I'd rather not think about what they wander home to do, honest."
He glanced over at her as he finished, looking a bit sheepish. "I kind of figured it wasn't natural, although it's a really great wig. It's not fake looking like some people's are, must have been pretty expensive, wasn't it? The costume, over all, looks really good."

"I sort of had a feeling that she'd be distracted by Leigh tonight. And it's okay. It's enough that she invited me along to hang out with her friends for the night, you know?" Meghan giggled a little more when Rath said he'd rather not know what Seraphim did with her girlfriend. "I have an idea of what they could be getting up to, but she's your sister so I'll keep comments like that to myself."
"I couldn't cosplay Judy and not do a good job. If I was going to do this I knew I had to do her justice, you know?"

"She's always distracted by Leigh," Rath agreed idly, smiling just a bit. They really were a cute couple, and if his sister [and his might-as-well-be-sister] was happy, then he was happy. He could just do without the visuals, whether Sera was with a boy, or a girl. It was still his baby sister. "I'm glad you came, either way, even if she's going to hella ditch you. And please, please, keep the things they could be getting up to, out of my head. I can just imagine, as much as I don't want to. She had Leigh stay over the other night, supposedly to study for geography, and.. that wasn't studying. My sister has gone from little miss chastity, to super freak, in like a month. It's terrifying."
Suppressing a shudder, he went on. "You did her excellent justice, man. If I had known, and if Tatum didn't spend all of October making these Redfield costumes, I totally would have come as like.. Johnny Napalm, or Izzy Sparks, or something. Maybe next year."

"I won't say anything about what Seraphim and Leigh get up to. You have my word." Meghan laughed and reached out to touch Rath's hand with her own before quickly pulling away. "I'm just glad my brothers don't get into those sorts of things. Well, one of them is only seven so it better be years before he tries anything. As for my older brother... I don't even know if he's ever kissed anyone."
"Hey, thanks. I really didn't think I'd done all that well compared to some other cosplayers I've seen, but I did my best on my shitty budget." She laughed again, smiling wide. "Yeah...maybe next year."
