Although she had no job of her own to speak of, waiting for Leigh to finish up with her job was a bit of a pain for Sera.
They were supposed to hang out together, once Leigh finished with her shift, which was thankfully ending a bit earlier than usual; it was a Sunday, and thus she was allowed to close up the cafe a few hours earlier than normally. It didn't stop customers from trashing the place though, and Seraphim had offered to walk over and lend a hand in cleaning up, but Leigh had insisted that she just stay home and wait for her to arrive. Something about hench women needing to do all of the manual labor, a comment that had made Seraphim laugh, in spite of herself, and of her concern about the blonde. They had parted ways at the library, with their [now at least] usual kiss, and Seraphim had been at home studying pretty much ever since that point, since she had arrived at her house, until dinner happened.
Neither her mother, nor her father, had been at home. When dinner had rolled around, the three siblings had ordered a pizza, that had been barely touched by Tatum, half eaten by Rath, and slightly enjoyed by Seraphim. She wasn't a fan of cheese pizza, which was one of the only types that Tatum would eat. She would have much preferred a combination pie, piled high with vegetables, especially olives and peppers. It seemed like a waste, since Tatum didn't eat much of the pizza anyway, outside of a few bites of her crust. Once dinner had been over, Sera had put the rest of the pizza into the fridge, just two slices; Leigh would probably eat them when she got there, she was always hungry after work.
It was a few hours after dinner now, Rath had gone to play a video game, Tatum was watching television in her bedroom, and Seraphim herself had retired the basement of their house. It was nicely furnished, and turned into a comfortable little den, and it was where her parents had allowed her to keep the three bookcases that weren't able to fit into her bedroom. They fit perfectly against one of the far walls, beside the door that led into the garage, and the deep freezer. The brunette was spread comfortably out onto one of the sofas in the room, with one of her books open and propped against her chest, as her mismatched eyes scanned over the words, and her mind traveled a mile a minute, caught up in processing the story.

Leigh stepped into the house with a little shake, as if she could physically dislodge the cold that way. Tatum has let her in with a small smile, and told her the location of the two things she wanted to find: pizza and Seraphim. She burst into the kitchen, found Rath staring wistfully at her pizza, and she whacked him on the shoulder before taking it out from underneath his nose. "My pizza," she informed him sternly, tossed it in the microwave, and while she waited for the timer to run down, she grabbed a cola. She opened it and took a long sip and picked up a handful of paper towels before grabbing the pizza when it dinged, and she promptly fled downstairs to find her girlfriend.
She waited a moment before fully entering, standing on the steps, freezing soda in one hand, and the pizza just a little hotter than comfortable to hold in the other, and Leigh admired Sera's profile as she read. The brunette was totally gone, which was one of the traits that Leigh had always found most charming. Finally, she continued her way down the stairs, placed the pizza and soda down on a table, and tapped Sera's legs, silently asking to sit. "Hey sexy lady," she added in tired greeting. "Can I quit and be a bum? Please?"

Seraphim had lost track of the time, as she often did when she picked up a good book and buried her face into it, and she jumped a little when Leigh appeared and tapped her legs, making her snap out of her reading daze. Was it really that late already? Managing a tired smile of her own, Sera shifted up, bending her legs in order to make room for Leigh to join her on the sofa in question.
"You can, yes, but I don't think anyone is going to pay me for my good looks. And I haven't gone to college yet, so I have no skills to pay the bills. If you quit work, I might have to go into a life of sex crime, in order to get cash. Do you want that on your head?"

"Depends on who the sex is with, I s'pose, and what the crimes are," Leigh replied sweetly as she half-collapsed onto the seat, and she wrinkled her nose, "After all, I've been very good lately." She sighed, breaking the amused mood she'd just created for herself. "I don't wanna quit, I swear. I'm just tired. And Rath was drooling on my pizza, too. Luckily I got here when I did, or he would be munching on the cheesy pizza goodness instead of me. And that would be terrible," she added frankly.

"The sex, undoubtedly, would be with married men. Usually middle-aged, and beyond. Who have a fetish either for librarians, or school girls in general. They'd ask me to do really weird things, like clamping their nipples, and I'd cry every night that I came home. That's what it would be," Seraphim explained, as she lifted her legs and placed them into Leigh's lap once the blonde was sitting down with her. "And you have been good, so maybe I'll be good, too.."
She listened to what the blonde said next, and gave her a sympathetic smile, offering out a hand for her to hold onto. "I would have ordered you a new one, if he ate it. And he'd be paying for it. Really though, if you're so tired all of the time, you need to take less shifts.. Jackson is there now, he can take off. You're too stressed."

"Well, he can't work on his own yet," Leigh shrugged, idly running her fingers on Sera's legs. "He's learning quickly, sure, but I can't abandon him. And I'm just mopey. It's okay. And no sex with creepy men for you. All your sexings shall be mine," she said pointedly. "I don't dislike my job. You know that. And you know I'll be right back cheerful in the morning." She smiled and then took a bite of pizza and perked up a little. "Mm, delicious artery-clogging goodness. You know how to treat a girl, boss lady," she teased.

"Well, I still don't like it when you're mopey," Sera replied absently, closing her book finally, and letting it rest onto her chest. "Poor morale makes for poorly executed hench women, and I can't have that shit going on. My troops need to be happy, and well fed. Which is why I saved you some pizza, you see, for the energy that it will provide you with. Did you know that calories are really just another way of saying joules of energy? Lots of people don't know that, but now you know. So enough your artery clogging energy. Eat up."

"I live to serve," Leigh chimed, and took another bite of pizza. "And a happy henchwoman I will be. I promise. Mmm..calories are energy, I knew that in a vague kinda eating-gives-you-energy way. I feel smarterer now," she added teasing. "Thank you. And for pizza. Nom nom!" And the took another cheerful bite.

"You're worse than my brother, I hope you know that," Sera replied, a bit teasing, as she shifted her legs more comfortably in her girlfriend's lap, and leaned over to take her cola from the table; taking a long drink, before putting it back down. "If you got here any earlier, I am pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten any slices. You two would have just split it up the middle, and gone nuts. I don't know where either of you even put all of the food, because you're both skinny. I mean, you have soccer metabolism, but he's just a frumpy nerd."

Leigh frowned thoughtfully. "I've no idea. I've always been like that. But, y'know, I've always been doin' stuff. And boys seem to be lucky like that. Lucky bastards. Ah well, a mystery for the ages, ma'am," Leigh teased, and took another bite. "You know I'm so gonna still be hungry after this, right?"

"I don't understand it. They don't deserve to have the metabolism of legends.. I'm like, the fattest person in my family. And I'm not even slightly fat. I don't understand it," the brunette sighed, watching her girlfriend finish devouring the pizza. "Well, we still have left over pasta from like.. two days ago, if you're interested. And I think we have ice cream, too, actually. You know our fridge is always full of pre-made stuff, I think our parents believe we'd starve otherwise, since they're never around to make real meals."

"Mm. Pasta. And ice cream. Fantastic," Leigh grinned after a final sip of cola to match her final bite. "I think it's something everyone in my family adjusted to. Michael's a twig, too. But if we didn't develop the insane metabolism, my mother's cooking methods would have us all rolling around as opposed to walking. I've never met a woman in my life who cooks more. Or better, frankly. Mmm, mom-food. So, we all know how my day was...how was yours?"

"Help yourself, lady," Sera replied, grinning back. She shifted a bit, getting more comfortable, and letting her head rest onto the small throw pillow behind it. She drummed her fingers, very lightly, on the hard cover of the book that rested on her chest. "Mom-food is delicious. I'm glad your mom cooks, since mine doesn't.. it makes up for it."
Pausing as Leigh asked about her day, Sera shrugged lightly. "Same old. I came home, ordered the pizza, watched some television, and waited for you. Not an incredibly exciting day. Although this book is good."

"What're you reading now?" Leigh asked, peeking over. She didn't often know or necessarily understand much about what Sera was reading, but she was always interested in what she was doing, and Leigh tried to ask. Besides, she always liked to listen to Sera talk about things, and usually the more obscure, the more Sera would get animated, and the more fun it was to listen to.

"It's called Go Ask Alice," Seraphim replied, lifting up the book, and handing it over in Leigh's direction. She had already shifted into that serious tone that she always got when explaining literature. "It's a leisure read, nothing for school, although I was thinking of doing a report on it for English. In advanced, we have six or seven optional projects, and one of them is a book report of our choice, so I think I might use this one," she explained, nodding slowly.
"Anyway, it's supposed to be the actual diary of an anonymous teenage girl, who died of a drug overdose in the sixties. It's pretty controversial, a lot of schools and stuff have banned it, but I think if anything, it would be a testimony against drug use, rather than encouragement. Apparently there is a second portion, called Crank, but I haven't read that yet."
