Random Comment is set in the city of Parkdale.
Parkdale is a rather nondescript little town, in a rather nondescript little country, in a rather nondescript little continent. Life in Parkdale is pretty boring. It's an older city, established sometime in the 1800s, and it was as plain as could be from the moment that it came into existance. No big deals, really. They have a decent sized population, attract a bit of tourism, are famous [if you can call it that] for a pharmaceutical company that provides a lot of jobs into the local economy, and living life there can be a bit droll. It's a nice place to settle down and raise an average family. Two point five kids, a dog, white picket fence.
They have a couple of universities, a movie theatre, a transit system, a hospital, a [rather bumbling] police force, a mall, loads of shops on downtown's main street, a local beach of sorts [the ravine], a somewhat bustling night life on weekends, and of course.. the local high school.
Which is where the majority of this game is meant to be played out.
Because teenage dramatics make the world go round, don't they?
Parkdale Community School houses students from grade nine, up until graduation in grade twelve. It is the pride and joy of the city, built in the late 1980s, and improved upon ever since. It's campus is fit to rival the university campuses, since it was originally built to be a third university building, but was changed at the last minute into the new high school. PCS teaches a wide variety subjects, from mathematics to literature, and has many great facilities, such as several athletic fields, up to date computer and science labs, a large auditorium & gymnasium, and a beautiful school ground, complete with a garden and courtyard. Just to name a few of the perks.
In short, the adult population believes that their children are quite privileged and honored to attend PCS.
Ninety percent of the actual PCS students? Well, not so much. Because no matter how awesome a school might be, it's still a school. And authority.
Between the piles of school work, the school dances, the graduating, the friends, the fighting, and the boring town, who knows what will happen? It might even be.. exciting! For once!
Living in Parkdale, it's always such a thrill, isn't it?
